For Immediate Release

The Florida State Conference of the NAACP and the Miami-Dade Youth Council has partnered with Chance the Rapper to register voters in Miami.

Chance the Rapper is hosting two concerts in Miami on Monday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 11 at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Center located at 1700 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida. He invited the NAACP to register voters before and after his concerts.

According to FL Youth and College President, “We are excited to be able to utilize a venue like this to register young voters. Political strategists have deemed young voters, millennials, as the swing voter group for this upcoming election. With so much on the line, such as criminal justice reform and affordable or free college for young voters, we cannot afford to let one opportunity slip by to educate and register millennials.”

The Miami-Dade Youth Council President, Jayson Jackson, stated, “I am excited about the opportunity to meet Chance the Rapper, but I am more excited to be able to help my community by registering my peers. I have friends that say that things are not going to change. This opportunity allows me and other members of the Youth Council to reach out to our age group to not only encourage them to participate but to also get involved and be the change agents for this generation.
